Matsuura Rieko



Matsuura Rieko was born in Matsuyama-shi,Ehime,Japan,August 7,1958.
She graduated from Aoyama Gakuin University,1981,French Literature.

Matsuura's career as a writer was started in 1978 when she was awarded the 47th Bungakukai Sinjinshou Award for "Souginohi ".
After,she was nominated for the 80th Akutagawa Literary Award in 1979 for "Souginohi".
She was also nominated for the 82nd Akutagawa Literary Award in 1980 for "Kawakunatu".

"Souginohi" was published in 1980.

Matsuura Rieko was also nominated for the 1st Misima Yukio Award in 1988 for "Nachuraru Uman"(Natural Woman).
After, she was awarded the 33rd Joryu Bungakushou Award( Women's Literature Award) in 1994 for "Oyayubi P no Shugyojidai"(Apprenticeship of Bigtoe-P),and became a best seller.

In addition,she has published five novels,two essays and others.

Matsuura's several books have been translated into French, Italian, Chinese, Formosan and English.

Bungakukai Sinjinshou Award
(Literary world newcomer prize)
 
 It is founded by 1955 (Showa 30) years and an up-and-coming writer's unpublished work is an object. An encouragement prize may be established if there is an examination committee who supports strongly also to works other than a winner.

Akutagawa Literary Award
 
 It was founded by 1935 (Showa 10) years.
The work announced by the magazine and the newspaper containing a coterie magazine is an object. Selection is 2 times per year and an announcement is in January and July.

Mishima Yukio Award
 
 It is connected with writer Mishima Yukio and a prize is awarded to "one piece of new work which cultivates literary future."
The candidates for selection are a novel, criticism, poem, and a drama.

Women's literature Award
 
The women's literature person meeting-sponsored "women's literature person prize" was absorbed, and it was enacted in 1961. One piece of work of the woman literature writer who was most excellent in the year is recognized.
